Hello Berlin!! - 06/23/14

WELLLL

Had quite the time getting to Berlin...okay, actually it was super easy and took like...an hour..and a half. Yeah.

SO...got my new comps Cameron and Knoll. This will be a fun transfer to figure things out in a dritt (trio)

We taught a bunch this week, we did street contacting and do you know what? I wasn't even scared to do contacting! What a blessing! I just walked right up to people and opened my mouth! Man, it was great! I loved it! Didn't know I could do that! BUT...the Lord has a cool way of taking your fear and weakness and making it the best. (Ether 12:27) I must say, I am quite a different person than when I started out. THANK GOODNESS. I personally think that I am quite the comic, but you may have to ask my comps on that one....ha.

So...to start off Berlin...I taught the law of...Chastity. Well then, should be no problem..and you know what?! It was a really good lesson... SO GOOD that everyone in the room left on a spiritual high...like Holy Ghost times ten people! It was amazing and our investigator really seemed to understand! SIIICCK.

Well, in the midst of craziness, I made gluten free brownies with Lindt chocolate inside, found some new clothes in the apartment, and all of a sudden conquered my fear of spiders...how does that happen? I don't know. But I just picked the little guy right up and set him outside. Crazy. Seriously, the Lord does some interesting things to change a person.

Sunday was hilarious. Let's just say, my pres. shakes my hand...doesn't go and then proceeds to drag me through the church to meet the bishop to tell him that I play the organ. (PRESIDENT LET GO OF MY HAND, I WILL TELL SISTER KOSAK!!!) HAhahhaa..Good times good times. Let's just say the Kosaks won't stop telling people that I play instruments. oh man. HAHAHA

This is what I get for learning. But it should be fun!! Thanks for everyone for supporting me on my mission. I think I send my new address already, but here it is again.

And.....tschüß - 06/16/14

So...in the midst of adventures playing soccer, getting bruises, getting rained on, getting tan, getting hugs on the street, and teaching people....transfer calls happened, while I was at a ward activity...by the lake.

So...here's the scoop. Leipzig is being WHITE WASHED. Aka, both my companion and I have been transferred out. Schmidt is gone to Hamburg-Altona....and...wait for it....I am transferred to BERLIN. (Lankwitz). Yes, I am now in Berlin. The main city of my mission. Riiiiight??!!!?? Wooo, I am staying East side and going to a BIG city...and I am in a dritt. AKA, I have TWO new companions. Both of whom were previous STL's. Man, what is it with me, I serve with former STL's/future STL's all the time. They probably just want to keep an eye on me....haha. Not really.

ANYWHO.
Teaching in Leipzig is going great, cool things happen all the time. Like today for instance, we were walking to come do emails, and I said hi to this guy and so he stops us! Whoa! He asks us where we are from. He didn't believe me that I was from America. He said I don't sound American...so...sorry family if I do not sound the same when I get home. Hahaha. So exciting. Then...he had to go, and he said, 'you're my sisters!' and hugged us. Well then. Hugs all around! i love friendly Jamaican people! They are the greatest!

We had a successful fast with one of our investigators...in the 24 hours of his fast, he didn't even THINK about smoking! Heavenly Father definitely knew what He was doing when He made the law of the Fast. IT WORKS. Talk about testimony/faith builder. If that doesn't build your faith, I don't know what will. :) (Okay, I do, Church, Pray, Read, CPR)

Well...for all of you who would like my new address here it is!!!

Sister Stephanie Rimmasch

and all packages can go to the office address, I don't live very far from it and can get it right away. :D

Let me tell you something...I gave my testimony in church on Sunday...and MAN! I have come to love Leipzig so much! It is like my home! And...I have come to know more fully the amazingness of the Atonement! It is for everyone, no matter who and it is made possible through Jesus Christ. And I can say this, I know that my Redeemer Lives! Otherwise, none of us would be here.

Well then - 6/9/14

So...you know your name is definitely not American when you call your Polish investigator, and say Hello here is Sister Rimmasch and he thinks that you have said 'Jak sie masz' which is how are you in Polish. Perhaps my last name is indeed Polish with a German spelling. That was kind of neat anyhow. :D

This week has been quite hot!! It's been pushing 90°'s all week! And humid, but NEVER FEAR, that did not stop us from going out and doing some missionary work! We had some great meetings with Russians and Germans alike. The Russian guy really did his homework before our second meeting, he studies up all about Joseph Smith and etc. Pretty neat, I am just glad we have a wonderful member who comes with us to translate for us. Sometimes he doesn't get everything in German the first time...

We went to Dresden this weekend for a MISSION TOUR. Super fun. Dresden is very pretty and the meeting was very good! I learned a lot! Like...we CAN do  hard things! I mean, sometimes I know that, but sometimes I forget that I can do hard things. Ha. But uh, yeah, the 2nd counselor of the area 70, Elder Dykes, spoke it us! He did a terrific job and oh MAN, I could just FEEL my heart burning within me. The Spirit was so strong I was surprise the room didn't start on fire or something...well...it was unusally hot that day...perhaps that is why. Let's just say, holy math...
missionaries+awesome meeting=SPIRIT OVERFLOW

The train ride home from Dresden was even more funny. Let's just say, how many missionaries can you pack on a train is not a game that I would highly encourage. Ha. It's like fitting track kids on a bus. Man.

Well, got some more fußball finding in this week, and even one of our current investigators was there! He did such a great job! We also celebrated the birthday of our beloved DL. It makes me feel a little old...ish...he was only turning like 19 and saying, oh I am so old and I was like...heck, I will be turning 22 this year, if I go by your standards of old I am ancient! ACK! Hahahaha.

I can only tell you how awesome it is to be a missionary when you see the fruits of your labors. We had a less active go to the temple! We had 4 people at church, (that we teach), we have seen people start to pray who have never prayed, a man who found us many months ago is now making steps towards baptism on his own accord! It's so exciting I may just pee my pants..or skirt in my case. Hahaha. But ja.

On another side of things, the Gothic Festival has been going on for days now in Leipzig and let's just say...I will never be Gothic. Amen. However, they are some pretty nice people....and yeah. Let's just say, everyone in the world deserves the Gospel of Jesus Christ in their lives, EVERYONE, even if you don't think they will take it.

Dreseden!
and a picture with my MTC Distrikt Leader!

This week - 6/2/14

Well....

I basically got SOAKED this week seeing as it rained and rained and rained...we got some area book work done because of it though! No problems!

We've had some great appointments this week, however, there was a holiday, called Christi Himmelfahrt or in Germany, Männertag...or in English...Man Day. Well...we had to be in early that day, because people like to get drunk and such...it was quite funny, apparently, some men tried to give my district leader and his companions beer...haha. Naturally, they said no.

We finally got to meet with some people this week that we have been trying to meet with, one was a self referral. He is from Serbia and we had to find a Book of Mormon in Serbian! Well, we found one...from the Elders. Good thing there is more than one set of missionaries in Leipzig or we may have a had a harder time finding the other language stuff. :)

We had soccer to find this week, and I was really praying hard that someone would just accept the gospel in some way shape or form. We play soccer with this 12 year old boy, and I had a feeling we should invite him to church...he said yeah, why not. Hey, that was easy. I find it easiest to share the gospel when I really care about someone or am friend with someone. We have been playing soccer with this kid for 3 weeks (he is super good!) and because we have a good friendship, it was not hard to want to invite him to church! I encourage everyone just to invite their friends to learn more or come to an activity. Your friends will know that you mean good and just care about them. :D

We saw a baptism this week in our Zone, it was great! I love going to baptisms! Germany is a baptizing mission! Everybody be getting baptized here! :D It's so great. Love life.

Sunday was sweet! We had 2 investigators at church and had some great member appointments. We went to our regular FHE and FINALLY our investigator came back! She hadn't been for months and finally she was back! The lesson went really well and the Spirit was pretty strong. I love it when things like that work out! It is so neat!

If anything, I am learning more and more that when I let the Spirit work through me, people learn and accept more of the gospel of HAPPINESS into their lives! It is so great! I just keep getting MORE AND MORE HAPPY as I continue on my journey on my mission! So cool!

Oh, and by the way, sometimes you wear mustaches in your apartment...it's just for fun.

I hope you all have a great week and I am sure that this week will be full of adventures....coming up next week:
Sleepovers, Mission Tour (Dresden), and birthday's for a district leader!
Until next week!
Love,
Sister Rimmasch

This week!! - 5/26/14

Well...this week I learned some Bayerisch....the dialect of German they speak in Bavaria. It is quite an interesting language...sounds NOTHING like German. I think I will just stick to German.

We had a great district meeting this week where we were given an analogy about guns. Aka, we are guns and our bullet it the Book of Mormon, and nothing happens until we have the wish (or the trigger) and acutally follow through. After much confusion and crazy drawings on the board, it turned out to be a pretty spiritual analogy....despite the analogy of guns.

We still have 3 baptismal dates still, and it is looking better than ever! We are having some real good improvements in our ward and in our area. We find, we teach, and the members help us! Sometimes our investigators even bring their friends! They are missionaries and they don't even know it! So we tell them.

I had a really spiritual experience teaching someone about the Atonement this week. He didn't know what it was or why it was important for him. So, we explained it and gave PURE TESTIMONY of the divinity and the mercy of the Atonement. The Spirit was so strong I  thought everyone was going to pass out from the awesomeness! He seemed to understand and it was like watching someone's burdens being taken off! SO AMAZING.

It is really cool to see that as we apply the atonement in our life, we can become better everyday. It is regardless of the mistakes we make, Heavenly Father will always listen to us and help us become better, we just have to ask him for help. He is always there to help us! ALWAYS. He will never leave us alone!

I love you all and hope you have a great week where ever you may be! Sorry it is short, I will make up for it by having double amazing adventures this week and writing about it! :D

Love you all!

Steph...I mean...Sister Rimmasch
